Xbox 360 controller with "play and charge kit" will it charge through my laptop?

i am planning on buying a xbox 360 controller for my laptop, i dont know anything about these controllers at all, but i found one with a "play and charge kit" and did some research on it and found out that it charges through the xbox system itself. i was wondering if it is compatible with my laptop and will it charge through my laptop. and if anyone knows any good websites other than ebay and amazon to purchase these through for a cheaper price brand new with the original microsoft trademark. and also if i buy a wireless 360 controller will i need some kind of adapter for it and where i can i get a controller and an adapter for my laptop. thanks.
