What does a ball/royal python mean/signify?

I dreamt that a ball/royal python was either coiled round my legs or 3/4 of its length was laying across my legs. my mother was lying down next to me on my left. Though it was not coiled or lying on my mother, she was somehow held down by its weight. I managed to get the weight off her and told her to leave. after uring her that i will get myself free, she left. I managed to pull myself free from the python. The python's body leading to it's head lay across my knees towards my right. Throughout the dream, the python did not harm or hiss at me. It was alive and looked like a well-fed black python with gold markings. My mother is undergoing chemotheraphy and i'm seldom around due to work commitments. I feel that the dream is trying to tell me something but i am unable to interpret it. What did the dream mean?
