Does it take less enegry to use a crock pot than a stove?

personally I don't think it does - as a crock pot/ slow cooker is running for far longer even though it is on a low setting it must use much the same power as a stove both consume a lot of energy. Half an hour on th estove or five hours in a slow cooker probably work out about the same.
