Why did Czech Republic and Slovakia split into two different countries?

I believe they split mainly because of the slovak political movement. some Slovaks believed that Slovaks should govern their own country and felt that most of the budget money went to support the economy in the Czech. So in 2003 the federation separated however many strong ties (cultural, political and economical) remained.
