Can you recommend good bands? ?

Seether is pretty good. They're similar to Nickelback and a lot of the other bands you've listed, though they definitely seem to have a bit more of an "edge" to them. :) Another alt-rock artist that I would highly recommend is Nirvana. They ARE the quintessential '90s grunge act after all, and their music is still quite excellent, even today! :D Also, since you mentioned that you like Nine Inch Nails, if you want to learn more about the industrial music genre, I'd definitely recommend checking out artists like KMFDM and Ministry.
