Food for people with Diabetes?
Well as a former chef and having had Type 2 diabetes for 16years all foods are safe for them, there issues should be more with portion sizes, eliminating the high sugar foods, high level carbohydrates, eat more fruits and veg, whole grains, for your Mother there is another artificial sweetener called Stevia, it is a plant based one and is safe. The best thing is to have them talk to a dietitian and get a meal plan, caloric intake level chart and choose to eat in that circle of foods, they can give them specific ideas, I have 2 crockpots, use alot of veggies, soya proteins, grains, legumes and have lost 45 pounds in 5 years since switching to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, I still have the occasional piece of chicken, fish and I treat myself to a burger once every 2-3 months, but very small and plain.
